The last quarter of 2015 was an exciting time for members of the Greater Columbus HBA, legislatively, fund raising and just having a good time together.

We held our 20th Annual Legislative Fish Fry in October with another good turnout of officials and members. Boral Building Products has sponsored this event all 20 years, and we thank them for their continued support. Rumor has it they may transform this event next year. Stay tuned for what comes next!

The Builder of the Year and Associate of the Year were announced

at the fish fry. Sam Hartin, Sam Hartin Contracting, was named Builder of the Year and Associate of the Year was bestowed to Sarah Dimitri, Ferguson Enterprises. A special thank you to both who are dedicated members. Many of you know Sam through his devotion not only to the GCHBA but his attendance and participation at the HBAG and NAHB meetings. He is a life director for NAHB. We thank Ferguson’s for allowing Sarah the time to attend meetings, functions and serve on our many committees.

In November, we acknowledged a magnificent year led by President Donald Bowles, and Steve Anthony was sworn in by HBAG President Neil Davis as our 2016 chief. We are looking forward to another valuable year under the direction of Steve and our new board.

December was a special month as Associate Vice President Scott Sawyer led us to a new GCHBA event. We held our first sporting clay shootout which was an overwhelming success and plan to put this on the calendar for an annual event.

Another tradition in which the members have grown fond is the specially prepared beef tenderloins enjoyed at our open house each December. Accolades go to Bradley Jones for this mouthwatering cuisine.
