On Friday, August 5, 2016, Valdosta experienced a taste of Las Vegas style entertainment as the Home Builders Association of South Georgia hosted its fifth annual fundraiser event! This event was held on the campus of Valdosta State University in the Ballrooms on the 3rd floor. Everyone worked very hard to make the room resemble a true Las Vegas Casino which included balloon arches, oversized dice and cards! From 7:30 p. m. to 11 p. m., our guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while also getting to spend their $2,000 in funny money. Lots of fun was had by all, while patrons were encouraged to play Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, 3 Card Poker, and Texas Hold em’. We partnered up with Florida Casino Parties to provide all of the gaming tables for the event and a few dealers for the Roulette and Craps Tables. The Blackjack, 3 Card Poker, and Texas Hold em’ dealers were all local volunteers from the Lowndes County area.

All games were played for a chance to win various prize packages including an awesome home package valued at over $1,000, 8+ pampering spa packages, various date night on the town packages, a getaway fishing package including weekend accommodations, a $500 frost yourself package to Steele’s jewelers, and UGA football tickets! All of these packages were graciously donated by area businesses. For every $1000 in funny money each patron had, one raffle ticket was given.

Once the playing was over, everyone placed their raffle tickets in buckets for the packages they hoped to win most. All proceeds netted from the event went to benefit the Home Builders Association, the Children’s Advocacy Center, Jacob’s Ladder and supporting our Associate Vice President (Chad Slaughter) with his 2016 United Way Prom King Endeavor. This year’s event with over 400 people in attendance was the Home Builders Associations largest to date! Casino Night is not only a great time, but goes to benefit great charities and we hope that it will continue to grow annually!
