New Law Yields Continuity and Safety to Residential Pool Installation

Effective January 1, 2017, Georgia mandated the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code statewide. Previously optional, the enforced code now applies to all residential pool installations only. This will ensure consistency in pool

construction among installers, resulting in a safer, quality constructed product for pool owners.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the Association of Pool Spa Professionals (APSP) are teaming up to provide training for interested builders free of charge. Builders are highly encouraged to purchase the code book for $75 for a comprehensive overview of the new code laws. The meetings are scheduled from 11am-1pm with 2.0 CEU’s available for attending. Meeting dates and locations include: February 22 (Augusta), March 1 (Rome), March 8 (Alpharetta), March 29 (Athens). To register, contact: Tracie Maxhimer, chapter coordinator, APSP-Georgia (404-405-5366) or email at: georgiaAPSP@gmail.com.
