publisher’s notes

It is with great optimism that we present the initial issue of Georgia Professional Builder Magazine. The title and the philosophy are new but the team behind the publication has solid experience in homebuilding and will be familiar to many of you. PrintComm has been publishing home builder magazines for state and local home builder associations for more than 20 years. This publication is our first foray into private publishing.

Like many of you, we weathered the downturn in the homebuilding economy with the belief that it would come back. Why? People need homes.

We believe that homebuilding is on the rebound. Housing starts are forecasted to climb again in 2017. Household formation numbers are on the rise. A higher than normal number of young people are still living at home with their parents. As the economy continues to improve, they will become buyers. Housing prices are at 10 year highs. All of these indicators point to a robust building cycle in the next few years. In fact, we know many of you are now coping with another set of issues: finding labor, land and loans.

We will strive to provide you with information that will help your building business. We will share info on products and design trends, new technology, innovative building and business practices, hiring tips, events, building codes and more, all with a Georgia flavor.

We hope you enjoy this initial issue. We welcome feedback so that we can always deliver something that will be useful to you and will warrant the investment in time you will make to read it.

Best wishes for a successful 2017! Kevin E. Naughton, Publisher
